DOG HELPS 4 ½-YEAR-OLD LOST BOY FIND WAY HOME
Identification for children is recommended by police. New ID fits on children's shoes.

HOUSTON - (Sept 29, 2003) - A 4 1/2-year-old boy was recently found wandering at 2:00 a.m. in a Houston suburb. The boy was looking for his lost dog - Biscuit. The boy had no ID. He was unable to give police phone numbers, addresses etc, but he did know his parents' names. While police were trying to find the boy's home, an officer spotted a stray dog fitting Biscuit's description. Biscuit lead them to the boy's home. One of the officers involved, Andy Beavers of Pearland, TX recommends putting ID on children to ensure a quick return.

"Loving pet-owners wouldn't think of letting their pets go without ID, yet we do not identify our children," said Mary Lynn Fernau, safety educator and inventor of Who's Shoes ID TM.

This Houston-mother-of-two is an advocate for child identification. She educates parents to the importance of ID if case children are lost or in a medical emergency. She supplies safety quizzes, tips and has recently developed an ID for children called Who's Shoes ID TM. It stems from an incident involving her own son who sat in an emergency room for two hours waiting for the hospital to locate her and her husband.

Who's Shoes ID TM is an easy-to-use ID that is worn on kid's SHOES and therefore is always with the child. It fits on laces, straps, loops even swimsuit straps. It carries all the necessary information to contact you in an emergency - whether your child is lost or hurt.

●    LOST CHILDREN
    •    1,315,000 (1.3 Million) children are lost and missing each year.
    •    Nearly 600,000 of those children are reported involuntarily lost or injured for one or more hours. (Many times that number of children were lost for shorter periods of time at malls, parks, public events, etc.)
    •    Of those 600,000, the majority are 10 years old and younger.

●    MEDICAL EMERGENCY
    •    98 out of 100 children NEVER carry personal identification.
    •    Many children cannot remember their address or phone number.
    •    1 out of 5 people have been to an emergency room.
    •    1 out of 3 emergency room patients are unable to give fast accurate medical or emergency contact information.
    •    25% of the population has medical conditions that should be known to medical providers.
